Popcorn time is in full swing!  We hope all of your popcorn sales are going well this first week out.  We would like you to be aware of what the proceeds from the popcorn sales can do for the pack.  Below is a list of some of the things these monies support:

Registration fees for day/overnight camps
Purchasing of food and supplies for the Blue and Gold Banquet
Purchasing of the pine wood derby cars for the pine wood derby races
Purchasing of awards/badges/belt loops for your scout
Supplies and food for special pack gatherings

We appreciate all of the time and effort it takes to be a scout AND a scout parent.  Popcorn sales is not always an easy task to fit into our busy schedules but the reward for the effort is a great one:  Supporting your pack and your scout!

A few upcoming dates to remember:

October 9th:
Bass Pro Shop
Popcorn Sale Table
10-2 (or longer depending on demand and volunteers)

October 15:

Service Weekend at Little Sioux Scout Ranch

We had a GREAT weekend at LSSR!  Not only did we have a lot of fun but we fit in some service projects along the way!  The two projects we completed in cooperation with Boy Scout Troop 3 were:   the cleanup of the beach area at the fishing hole and the cutting and stacking of tree limbs in the North Valley.  Everyone really pitched in and "Doc", the ranger for the ranch, was very appreciative.  So much so that he personally delivered coffee to us wiped out big kids Sunday morning at 7am!  Thanks Doc!
Ranger Doc really put it simply when he explained to us how much our few hours of work helped.  There were about 40 of us total working at the camp and we worked for about three hours.  When that is all added up, we saved Doc120 hours worth of work.  That is three, forty hour work weeks!  It really goes to show how much can be accomplished when we work together, not to mention how great it feels to help keep up one of our favorite Scout hangouts.
Volunteering at Little Sioux Scout Ranch is great way to get outdoors but also earn some "credit" towards future outings.  As an adult, you can volunteer as a staff member at any Council sanctioned camp and "earn" a spot for your child at another camp.  If you are interested, please talk to Ricky or contact LSSR for further information.  Below are some pictures from the weekend.  Thank you to everyone that came out this and especially to Ricky and Jennifer for making sure us newbies survived in the "wilderness".

Weekly Update

Welcome
Great to see everyone tonight at the meeting!  We are really excited to grow as a pack this year and are very happy that you, and your sons, will be a part of that.  We do realize, especially if this is your first year of scouting, that things can be a bit overwhelming as we get started this fall.  Things will begin to settle into place before you know it.  If you have any questions about anything please feel free to ask your den leader or Ricky. Your leader's contact information is listed on the "contacts" page of this site.  Soon, there will be a general pack email address that you can send your questions to as well.  You are also welcome to leave your question in the "comments" area at the bottom of each post.

UPCOMING IMPORTANT DATES:

Sept 30th:  Popcorn Blitz at Vala's
October 1st:  Pack volunteer day at Crescent's Fall Festival
October 8th:  Popcorn Blitz at Pioneer Trail
October 15th:  Camping World day cam at Manawa

Please check the "Pack Calender" page of this site for all of the details.  The schedule for the year, as it now sits, will be entered on the calender soon.

Open House

We would like to give a big thanks to everyone who attended the open house and we hope to see you all at the next pack meeting on August 30th at Southside Christian Church at 7pm.  Though the weather kept the kids out of the bounce house for a bit the freshly fried donut holes and root beer floats served by our Boy Scout volunteers kept the boys and their families in attendance happy during the rain.  It was a great turn out and we are very happy to see some new faces in our pack this year!

Contact information for our leaders and assistants will be updated after next weeks meeting.  The calender will be updated by then as well.
